Messenger – January 2024

Pastor’s Corner

This is the time of year that we reflect on the year now past. It was certainly a year full of challenges. We have persevered, and God has blessed us in many ways. I am encouraged by the spiritual growth evident in so many of you. As I reflect on the New Year that lies ahead, new challenges come to mind. The year 2024 will be one of more changes for our church that will be difficult but necessary for us to move forward. Growth requires change, and change can be uncomfortable, because we want to keep things as they have always been.

The Apostle Paul speaks to us when he says, “Therefore, do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Cor. 4:16-18.) We cannot do this unless we follow though on what Paul says in Phil. 3:13-14 …forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

We cannot predict what 2024 will bring. We can, however, trust God to do a work in us that will bring glory to Him and Him alone.

Happy New Year to All of You,

Pastor Al
