June 2024 Messenger

It’s June and we celebrate our father’s this month. We all have many memories of our fathers, some wonderful and for some, maybe not so wonderful.

One memory for me is that many years ago in the 1960′s my Mom and Dad gave my Aunt and Uncle some sprigs of their dogwood tree. My Aunt and Uncle took it to their home and planted it and it grew into a beautiful tree, but never bloomed. My Dad suffered a heart attack and stroke, which took the use of his right side and speech away. When my Dad died in 1987, more than 20 years after the dogwood tree was planted, that year it bloomed beautifully and it has bloomed ever since for the last 37 years. I knew then he was no longer in pain and frustration after his stroke, that he was with the Lord and happy.

Our heavenly father reminds us that he is always there with us, no matter what our situation may be.  Matthew 28:20 says “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God is the only perfect father.  God can fill us with peace and calmness.  Thought we may stumble, He will uphold us with His hand…always.

Happy Father’s Day!

Blessings,   Carolyn

Bible Verse Memory Plan

Week #1: Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst. 1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV

Week #2: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121: 1-2 KJV

Week #3: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Week #4: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 KJV

A Prayer When Challenged

God of wisdom and love, help me and all others who are struggling with difficult circumstances find direction and strength to face our challenges. Give us the assurance that underneath us are your everlasting arms, which will sustain us through everything we face day and night. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Rev. Silvanus Malaho is actively engaged in preparations for his return trip to Franklin Hill this fall. The Bungomo Pastors group is fundraising to get funding for his airline ticket to Franklin Hill in September. He has been looking forward to this trip for a long time. It will be an adventure for any family to host him for a day or so. Show him your favorite place or landmark. Or just show him some old time family activities They have been having heavy storms for the last month, more rain than he can ever remember. Floods have damaged their school and destroyed some of their school supplies and damaged some of their sleeping quarters. Crops have been damaged and roads are affected. They need our prayers. Please sign up to host one of the social hours on the Sunday after Communion Service on the first Sunday of the month. Hosting only means setting out what is brought and cleaning up afterward.

It does not mean bringing everything to share.

Don’t forget our card ministry – If you would like a card sent to a particular person to give them a lift or let them know they are missed or offer encouragement, etc. etc., just give the name and address to Cathe. Cards, envelopes and postage will be provided and placed on a table in the Community Building the first Sunday of each month. As we file past the table on our way to the coffee pot, we will be able to sign each of the cards and Cathe will address the envelopes and mail them.
