July Messenger

July 4th commemorates the day in 1775 when our nation declared itself to be an independent nation and signed the Declaration of Independence, stating our determination to become a free country. This day is not a religious holiday, but it is a time to think about all the goodness we have received from God.

As we celebrate America’s birthday and our freedom, Give thanks to God, Thank a Veteran, Fly your flag proudly. Freedom comes from truth and in John 8:32 it says “Then you will know truth and the truth will set you free”

I love our country, I love our state, I love our little community on the hill and I love my home.

God has provided so much for all of us to enjoy. It’s great to be an American and a child of God!

May we commit our future and our lives to God and His will. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 33:12)

Happy 4th of July!

Bible Memory Verse

Week 1 – Psalm 139:13 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14, NIV

Week 2 – Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” – Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV

Week 3 – Matthew 22:39 “Love your neighbor as yourself.”- Matthew 22:39, NIV

Week 4 – Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”- Philippians 4:6, NIV

I used to pray that God would feed the hungry, or do this or that, but now I pray that He will guide me to do whatever I am supposed to do, what I can do. I used to pray for answers, but now I’m praying for strength. I used to believe that prayer changes things, but now I know that prayer changes us, and we change things” —–Mother Theresa

It’s the middle of summer, Creator God. Nourish growth in my heart as you do crops in fields and produce in gardens this time of year. Amen.

Hold fast to the Bible as the [main] anchor of your liberties; write its precepts on your hearts and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book we are indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future. —Ulysses S. Grant
