FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…..
Dear Church Family,
As March arrives we find ourselves in the season of Lent. This is a time when we are to look at our lives and ask the question; do I truly understand the gift that God has given us?
While I was reading the account of the feeding of the five thousand in John’s gospel, Chapter 6: verses 1-15; I remember a time when a friend of mine accompanied us to church. We were probably 7 or 8 years old and my mother had given each of us some change to put in the offering plate. When it came time for the offering we each dropped our coins into the plate but I remember my friend leaning over and whispering in my ear, and looking at the usher he said, “Is That God”? Maybe I should give a little of my own.
In the story of the feeding of the 5,000 the little boy gave what he had. The 5 loaves and 2 fish. How amazed he must have been, to see how far what he had given went.
Maybe in this season of Lent, we should be asking ourselves. What have I to offer?
That question has occurred to each of us as we face many different situations in life. Do you remember your first job, or your first date? Do you remember how worried you were that you wouldn’t make the grade with the new boss or new friend? If you were athletic and played a team sport, did you worry about what you had to offer? At times like these we all tremble in our boots a bit.
Actually you and I don’t have very much to offer God, but he wants us to offer what we do have. Our time, our money, our talent and our very lives. Whatever we do offer to God, he will consecrate and change. Our offerings will become magnified a thousand times, as were the loaves and fish.
Each of us has something that God wants and needs for the building of His eternal kingdom. Why wait? Why not offer your loaves and your fish, your very self to God today?
If we truly, understand what God has given, how can we not ask of ourselves?
WHAT HAVE I TO OFFER?
In His Service,
Pastor Joe and Bonne
