FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…..
Recently I was at the door of the church greeting people as they left. As one person left they said, “Thank You, Good Message”, and I replied “No Thank The Lord”, and their reply was, “Well It Wasn’t That Good”!
Later that week I began to think about the brief exchange of words and asked myself, “what more can I do to help you see God”? So I took that same question to God and He lead me to John 14: 8 & 9, where Phillip said, “ Lord show us the Father and that will be enough for us”. Jesus must of felt as I did that maybe He did not communicate clearly enough. For He said in verse 9, “Don’t you know me Philip”?
When we have made up our minds to succeed in anything, we begin to do a lot of thinking about it. We try to make sure we fully understand what it is we are trying to accomplish.
The More you have studied your work, the better you have understood it. It is all real and vital.
But, when we talk about God, things become foggy. We grope in the mist. God realized this, and so He sent us a man like ourselves who went through life meeting all the knocks, and temptations, dangers, and disappointments that strike us, but who understand and trusted God so well, that He could say (John 14:9), “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father,” in other words, anyone who know His life and character would really understand what God is like.
So our job, yours and mind, is to study the life of Jesus. The way you study to succeed at anything.
You will discover how He liked people, all sorts of them-how He hated anyone being unjust or hard, or even being crabby. You will also see that He was forever getting help and courage from His Father. Go ahead and discover for yourself just what kind of a person Jesus really was. Then you will know his Father (God), and yours. You will find all about Jesus in the four biographies his friends wrote about him, the Gospels.
God knows our hearts, our needs, and our hopes, and He helps us to know him through His son, Jesus Christ.
In His Service,
Pastor Joe and Bonne

Do you read the Presbyterian Today Magazine? Do you want it in the future? If you answer yes to these questions please get your name on the list that is hanging in the vestibule of the church. Several months ago session decided not to renew the subscriptions to this magazine as they come up for renewal this year. This decision came about because many people told session they do not read the magazine and no longer wanted it. Some subscriptions may have already expired but the majority expire in June. Instead session will order a set number of magazines and put them in the vestibule of the church for people to take home as we currently do with the Upper Room. How many should be ordered when this starts in July will be based on the number of people that request the magazine. If you do read and like this magazine please sign the sheet in the vestibule. Thank you from Session.
