The Messenger – July 2017

From The Pastor’s Desk…..

Dear Church Family,
There is much debate today about our nation under God’s rule. Yet according to the scriptures He has dominion no matter what we think, and rules over the nations no matter our opinion. Regardless of what people choose to believe, His word is still true.
In Psalm 22:27&28 David writes, “All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before Him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.”
July is here, and as I travel about our area, it seems I see more flags on display, and I began wondering, what does it mean to those who raise them? Does our flag represent the freedom we have because of all the sacrifices made for us? Does it remind us of the men and women who have given their lives in exchange for our freedom?
As I meditated on the moment, I realized that the red, white, and blue colors applied to our spiritual freedom as well.
The RED represents the shedding of blood by our Savior for the forgiveness of sins.
The STRIPES tell us how we have been healed. I Peter 2:24 “by His (Jesus) wounds you have been healed.”
The WHITE indicates the righteousness that was given to us by Jesus, in exchange for our sin.
When I think of the BLUE color I am reminded of the beautiful blue sky that holds the stars, bold evidence of our Creator.
Our flag represents freedom for our country built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. When you look at the flags flying, will you think of our country’s freedom and be reminded again of our freedom through our Savior’s blood?
We are blessed to be Americans as well as a child as David writes of, “He who has dominion and rules over the nations.”
In His Service,
Pastor Joe
