FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…..
Dear Church Family,
Summer is here, and if you’re like me it seems as if every weekend is filled with some sort of event. All of which requires travel and travel this time of year means road construction, heavy traffic, long lines and impatient motorist.
While traveling recently and contemplating on what I was going to share at an upcoming memorial service, Psalm 23 really became alive. “He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.”
The line of traffic was long, after all, it was rush hour. Why did that surprise and STRESS me? I had waited at this construction site at least 3 times already.
As I crept closer to the intersection I could see that the lady in the car in front of me hoped to turn left. She needed to get a little further up to enter the left turn lane which was clear.
Just one car length and she could make her move.
But that one car ahead of her could not or would not move up just enough for her to get over. She honked, she motioned and they didn’t budge.
The left turn light turned green and she was missing her opportunity, yet again. She honked . Nothing!
When the light turned back to red and she knew several minutes would pass before it turned green again, she literally threw her head against the head rest and screamed. Mind you my windows were up and my radio was on. Her window was only slightly cracked.
It was a loud, furious scream of rage lasting about 5 seconds. I’ll not soon forget that scream.
I sat wide eyed and prayed there wasn’t a child in her backseat. I was also challenged to think of the times I too, have been there and wanting to scream but didn’t. Usually I had simply left to late and then became irate at the people slowing me up on the roadways.
We can let this fast pace world and our frenzied schedules drive us to screaming when driving or just living! So we need to remember that only the Spirit of the Living God can fill us with some calm, some peace and some quiet.
“He leads me beside the quiet waters, he restores my soul-Psalm 23: 2.
In His Service,
Pastor Joe

THANK YOU! I was so blessed to lead you in worship for nine years in the summers and Ray and I count you as dear friends. I wanted to thank you for the cards, letters, phone calls and prayers that you gave during Ray’s illness. Not many of us get to know how much we are loved and how we have touched each other’s lives, but Ray had that opportunity as your poured out your love to us. May God continue to bless Franklin Hill Church as you begin a new association. You have always epitomized what a church SHOULD BE! In His Service, Pastor Marilyn.

Rev.Silvanus Malaho has sent us pictures of their new school/social center in Kenya. They call it “Ambassadors of Love” center in Shikunga village, Kenya. They have built this center with some of the funds which our church as sent them. They use the center to help the very poor, old people 3 days a week to provide food and medication. A volunteer teacher comes in and teaches reading, 3 times a week. They also have 18 poor children attending school here at a much lower cost than the other schools. The center is also used as a medical clinic, kitchen garden and tree nursery. These are all supported by funds from our church on Franklin Hill. Rev. Malaho has again, invited anyone from our church to come and visit to see what they are doing and learn about their situation. Jim Kessler
